Eugene Gardner (vocals/guitar/mandolin) and Dan Tyler (guitar/banjo) grew up writing songs together, playing porches and basements with their friends. Marc Jaffee, their former music teacher, grew up a couple of miles down the road and produced their first two records, Eugene Tyler Band and Young Randy , before joining them on upright bass and background vocals for their 2019 EP, ‘baby dogs’.
‘baby dogs’ was their first entirely acoustic release, a mix of alt-country and bluegrass that showcased the dynamic musicianship and acerbic songwriting the group is known for. Their newest single, 'Longest Day', is from those same sessions, recorded live with minimal overdubs in an effort to capture the raw energy of their live shows.
Years of touring the east coast behind their first two albums gave ETB a dedicated grassroots following, appearing everywhere from farmer’s markets and small-town breweries to dive bars and clubs. Since then, they’ve built an eclectic fanbase from Colorado to Maine, with support slots at clubs like Sony Hall and the Knitting Factory and sharing the stage at bluegrass festivals with Billy Strings, Po’ Ramblin’ Boys and the Brother Brothers.
"Reminiscent of alt-country icons like Jason Isbell, yet there's an intricate, grooving element about their execution. Their lyrics are soaked in metaphors that pierce into the humanness of the listener; there's an outlaw, rugged approach that borders on discomfort because the content is that honest." - nj.com
"Sure to turn your head inside out... A low fi folkie reflection on the humorous side of how life sucks." - Midwest Record
"Excellent album from an enigmatic band… Intense guitar interplay that recalls the Milk Carton Kids & Mandolin Orange… an easy-going sound underpinned by great musicianship." -AmericanaUK
